Double Cleanse

Double cleansing forms the first two steps in the 10-step routine. It involves using an oil based cleanser followed by a water based cleanser.

Step 1

First with an oil based cleanser, it helps

Remove dirt

Remove makeup

Remove excess sebum and impurities

The most common types of oil cleansers are cleansing oil and cleansing balm.

Cleansing Oil

This type of cleansers usually come in a pump bottle in the form of liquid. Due to its packaging, the use is straightforward and hygenic.

Cleansing balm

Cleansing balms usually come in jars with a small spatula to help you scoop the product out. The balm melts into the skin and emulsifies with water.

Step 2

Then with a water based cleanser tailored towards your skin's needs, it

cleanses your pore

targets specific problems and can either help hydrate, exfoliate, brighten or soothe your skin

The most common types of water cleansers are cleansing gel, milk and foam. Textures aside, you would want to choose a water based cleanser ideally by its function specifically to address your skin's concern.

Last but not least, there is also cleansing water. Micellar water contains surfactants which disolves makeup and oil. For a lot of sensitive and dry-skin typed K-Beauty lovers, this is their go-to choice as a second step. Take a cotton pad, soak it with your favourite cleansing water, and just wipe across the face - simple as that. Micellar water takes time to disolve oil, which is why instead of wiping intently over and over again(which could irritate your skin), you see a lot of bloggers or influencers pressing and holding the cotton pad in one spot for a few seconds before wiping off to achieve the best result.

in the morning

We think it is enough to cleanse with a very gentle water based cleanser in the morning, just to clean away the exccess sebum from a good night sleep. For extremely dry and sensitive skin, we recommend just using a no-rinse cleansing water.

at night

We think it's VERY important to stick to double cleansing for your evening routine especially if you have been outside or been with makeup the whole day, to release the burden and tension off your skin.
